Since my parents moved here almost 50 years ago, I have loved Cape Girardeau. I grew up, went to work, found my wonderful wife Rachel, started my business, and raised our children Carrie and Molly right here in Cape.
Today my visionary heart and my business eye tell me this: Cape is poised to take a strong and prosperous step into its future. I have always served our city any way I could. Now something more is being asked. I am running for the Second District County Commissioner seat in Cape Girardeau County.
Friends have convinced me the time is now. Circumstances prevented my declaring in time to run as a Republican (my lifelong party), so I will run as an independent with the same conservative Republican beliefs that have always anchored my life. Cape simply cannot become a thriving regional center if it has uncertain, disjointed leadership.
People know Rock Finch for two things:
- Being a man of godly character and belief, and
- Having the ability to build a prosperous business based on integrity and trust that God helped me do.
This is exactly what our county needs in 2009.
I have the teambuilding and negotiation skills to help guide our commissioners, mayors, legislators and business leaders down the same road. I believe in people. I see the best in them, yet I can also be decisive when it’s time to confront thorny issues.
But no quality prepares someone for public office unless he has the heart of a servant. The foundation of my marriage to Rachel, my life as a father, and my success in business is this: I believe in serving those around me, in bringing out the best in them. I will require no less of myself as I prepare to lead the people of our community.
Rock your Vote November 4th.
